PlayStation Is Providing Refunds to MindsEye Players
Published 13 Jun 2025
MindsEye, the debut title from Build a Rocket Boy, launched to widespread criticism due to severe performance issues, bugs, and glitches across all platforms. The backlash has been so significant that PlayStation is issuing refunds to some players—a rare move that echoes the troubled launch of Cyberpunk 2077, one of the only other titles to receive similar treatment.

In response to the outcry, Build a Rocket Boy acknowledged the problematic release and promised rapid improvements. The studio announced via Twitter that several patches are in development, with the first update scheduled between June 13 and 15. This update aims to address key technical problems such as CPU/GPU performance, memory optimization, and overall stability. The studio expressed deep regret, stating it was "heartbroken" that many players couldn’t experience the game as intended.

The disappointing launch has drawn attention partly due to the involvement of Leslie Benzies, former Rockstar Games president. Speculation and conspiracy theories have surfaced, with the studio’s co-CEO suggesting that a coordinated effort may be trying to undermine the game’s success. Despite the rocky start, MindsEye has started to improve its Steam rating to “mixed,” with praise for its driving and story elements. Still, its future remains uncertain as it joins a rare group of titles that pushed PlayStation to bend its refund policy.
