Street Fighter 6 Is Coming to Switch 2 — But There's a Major Drawback
Published 28 May 2025
The Nintendo Switch 2 physical release of Street Fighter 6 comes with a significant limitation: while the base game is delivered via a Game-Key Card, the DLC content is included as a code-in-a-box that expires after two years. This has disappointed fans who expected a more lasting physical edition, especially for such a major launch title.

Street Fighter 6, released in 2023, has been widely praised and commercially successful, selling over four million units and earning a 92 average score on OpenCritic. Given its acclaim, it’s a standout among the Switch 2’s launch games. However, players may be frustrated by Capcom’s decision to exclude DLC from the main game card, especially since it includes key characters from both Year 1 and Year 2.

The Years 1–2 Fighters Edition adds eight DLC fighters and extra costume colors, but players must redeem the DLC code before it expires. This creates a time-sensitive issue, especially for future buyers. Despite this drawback, the Switch 2 promises an impressive lineup of games and free upgrade options for select existing titles, making it a compelling next-gen console—albeit with caveats like this one.
