Nintendo Switch 2 Adds Another Game to Its Launch Lineup
Published 24 Apr 2025
Sega has officially confirmed that Sonic X Shadow Generations will be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. This announcement came shortly after the Nintendo Direct event focused on the new console, which highlighted its features, games, and release date. The updated game is a remaster of 2011’s Sonic Generations, now with a new storyline centered on Shadow the Hedgehog, and it joins a growing list of titles set to release on June 5 alongside the new console.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will debut with a strong lineup of 22 launch titles. These include major games like Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Hogwarts Legacy, Street Fighter 6, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Mario Kart World. Nintendo is also offering upgraded editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom specifically for the Switch 2. Alongside these, Sega is contributing with three launch titles: Sonic X Shadow Generations, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S, and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut.

While this list of confirmed games is already impressive, it's possible that more titles could still be added before the console’s release. However, Nintendo is reportedly done revealing additional first-party games for launch. For now, players can look forward to an exciting and diverse collection of games across genres when the Nintendo Switch 2 hits shelves on June 5.
