Just got back from the MALCOM 2024 Hobby Show, and I have to share my experience. This year, the event was held at St. Giles The Wembley Hotel in Penang, and it was an impressive affair from start to finish.

Billed as one of the biggest miniature shows in ASEAN, the event spanned June 8th and 9th. It lived up to the hype, drawing a large crowd of enthusiasts and vendors alike. The variety of products on display was fantastic: from modeling tools and custom paints to 3D printed figurines and model kits. I even had the chance to catch up with some old friends and make new ones. It felt like most of the time was spent chatting about our shared passion rather than just admiring the displays!

Clubs from all over showcased their skills, with exhibits ranging from military kits to sci-fi models. The competition segment this year saw a notable rise in participation, especially in the figurine and sci-fi categories. The talent on display was truly impressive.

As someone who enjoys military kits, I’m hoping next year brings even more entries in the aircraft and armor categories, as well as more dioramas. There’s always something new to look forward to.

A big congratulations to all the competition winners. Your work was outstanding, and I’m excited to see what you’ll bring to the table next year.

Finally, a shoutout to the organizers and Penang State Tourism for their seamless collaboration. The event was a huge success, and it’s events like these that make our hobby community thrive. Looking forward to more such events focusing on toys, collectibles, and games in Penang.
