Published 21 Mar 2024

Atlus has surprised fans by announcing an earlier release date for Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, the revamped version of the original 2021 RPG. Originally slated for June 21, 2024, the game will now hit shelves on June 14, 2024, across all platforms, granting eager players an earlier opportunity to dive into the demonic world. While Atlus is better known for its Persona series, Shin Megami Tensei has a longstanding legacy in the realm of Japanese RPGs, offering a hardcore turn-based experience set in an apocalyptic Tokyo besieged by angels and demons.

The decision to move up the release date of Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance has sparked positive reactions from fans, despite some playful speculation regarding its timing relative to other major releases. This updated edition promises a new story path, dubbed the Canon of Vengeance, alongside enhancements to the battle system, demon compendium, and soundtrack. Additionally, graphical upgrades aim to optimize performance, particularly for modern consoles and PC platforms, although the latter will utilize the controversial Denuvo DRM solution, a move that may draw scrutiny from some players.

While anticipation for Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance runs high, Atlus's decision to incorporate Denuvo DRM into the PC release may pose concerns for certain gamers, given its history of potential performance issues. Nevertheless, Atlus seems committed to delivering an enhanced experience for fans across all platforms, ensuring that the demonic RPG remains a standout title in the genre despite potential obstacles on PC.
