Recent social media activity from Persona 4 vocalist Shihoko Hirata has fueled speculation that a remake of the beloved JRPG could be in development. While fans are eager for a revival, there is little concrete evidence to support the idea. The speculation largely stems from Hirata’s posts about working on an unannounced game and her visits to MIT Studio, a recording facility frequently used by Sega and Atlus. Additionally, fans have noticed her liking Persona 4-related posts, leading to further assumptions about a possible remake.
Persona 4 will celebrate its 17th anniversary in July 2025, the same age that Persona 3 was when it received a remake in the form of Persona 3 Reload. This coincidence has only intensified discussions about Atlus potentially developing a similar project. Rumors of a Persona 4 remake have been circulating since 2024, with well-known Sega leaker Midori claiming it was already in the works, alongside a remaster of the Persona 2 duology. Another leaker, Head on the Block, suggested that while the Persona 2 project was a remaster, the Persona 4 remake was still in an early development phase.
The growing interest in a Persona 4 remake coincides with the success of Persona 3 Reload, which became Atlus’ fastest-selling title upon release. Given the strong reception to Persona 3 Reload, a fresh take on Persona 4 would be a logical move for Sega and Atlus. However, even if a remake is indeed planned, it would likely take a backseat to Persona 6, which is believed to have been in development for several years. Until an official announcement is made, fans can only speculate about the future of the Persona franchise.
