Exodus, the highly anticipated sci-fi RPG from Archetype Entertainment, is set to release in 2026. Led by BioWare veteran James Ohlen, the game is being developed under Hasbro-owned publisher Wizards of the Coast for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Exodus first gained attention at The Game Awards 2023 with a cinematic trailer featuring actor Matthew McConaughey, and with several BioWare veterans on board, it promises a deep narrative-driven experience.
During Hasbro's recent earnings call, CEO Chris Cocks confirmed the 2026 release window, putting an end to long-running speculation. He expressed confidence in the project, citing Ohlen’s extensive RPG experience as a key asset. Exodus is expected to play a major role in Hasbro’s growth strategy over the next few years, making it one of the company’s most significant upcoming releases.
Like the Mass Effect series, Exodus is a third-person, planet-hopping adventure featuring a mix of action and stealth mechanics. Its story was even explored in Secret Level, an animated anthology series on Prime Video. With the release window now set, more reveals are likely throughout 2025. Meanwhile, BioWare, Ohlen’s former studio, faces challenges after job cuts and restructuring following the underwhelming performance of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, though its next Mass Effect title remains in development.
