Star Citizen Update Introducing Monster Hunting Feature
Published 21 Oct 2024
Cloud Imperium Games has announced that monster hunting is coming to Star Citizen in a future update. Despite the game still being in Alpha since 2013, Star Citizen continues to add new features regularly. The game is crowdfunded, having raised a record amount, but has faced criticism for its long development and lack of a release date. However, its dedicated fan base remains enthusiastic about the game's evolving potential.

At CitizenCon 2954, the developers unveiled the monster hunting feature with a cinematic trailer showcasing intense gameplay, including both land and aerial vehicles. This new feature builds on the addition of native animals to the game earlier this year. Though the trailer excited fans, no release date has been provided for when monster hunting will be available in-game, leaving players to wait for more updates.

Despite the excitement for new features, Star Citizen's development timeline remains uncertain. With over a decade of development and no roadmap for a 1.0 release, it's clear the game is still years away from completion. While Cloud Imperium Games has faced layoffs earlier this year, the company's ongoing feature announcements show that its ambition remains high, even as the final release date remains elusive.
