Krafton has hinted that the *Hi-Fi Rush* sequel, currently being developed by Tango Gameworks, may adopt a more open-world design compared to its linear predecessor. The original *Hi-Fi Rush*, released in January 2023, gained widespread acclaim for its vibrant rhythm-action gameplay, which marked a significant departure from Tango’s previous horror titles like *The Evil Within* and *Ghostwire: Tokyo*.
Despite *Hi-Fi Rush*'s success, Tango Gameworks was unexpectedly shut down by Xbox in May 2024, alongside other studios. However, three months later, Krafton acquired Tango Gameworks, rehiring much of the original staff and gaining control of the *Hi-Fi Rush* IP. Krafton's Head of Corporate Development, Maria Park, confirmed that *Hi-Fi Rush 2* was already in development with a playable six-month-old build and hinted that the sequel would feature larger, more dynamic environments while maintaining some linear elements.
The sequel is expected to introduce new gameplay elements, such as side quests, within its expanded areas. While the transition to Krafton has temporarily paused work on *Hi-Fi Rush 2*, the studio also plans to release the original *Hi-Fi Rush* on Nintendo Switch and has more DLC in development. However, the release of *Hi-Fi Rush 2* is likely still a few years away, as Tango Gameworks is also developing a new online co-op live-service game with Krafton.
