A new report suggests that the PS5 Pro may not deliver the 4K resolution and 60 frames per second performance many fans were hoping for in Grand Theft Auto 6. With GTA 6 being one of the most anticipated games of all time, breaking records with its trailer alone, fans are eager for more details. Despite unconfirmed reports of PlayStation securing marketing rights for the game, it appears that expectations for top-tier performance on the PS5 Pro may need to be tempered.
Digital Foundry’s Richard Leadbetter explained that due to GTA 6's intense demands on the CPU, it is unlikely that the game will run at 60 frames per second on the PS5 Pro. Historically, Grand Theft Auto titles have struggled to reach 60fps because of their large open worlds and complex systems. Leadbetter noted that since the PS5 Pro shares the same CPU as the base PS5, achieving this frame rate would be very challenging, as the limitation is more related to CPU power than GPU.
Although GTA 6 might not hit 60fps on the PS5 Pro, it is expected to perform better than on the standard PS5. However, the inability to reach 60fps with high-quality graphics could affect the appeal of the PS5 Pro, especially at its steep $700 price point. With GTA 6 set for release in fall 2025, the game is still expected to drive console sales, potentially boosting the PS5 Pro’s success despite these early concerns.
